The definition of a leader

The founder of Organo Gold, Shane Moran, was asked to describe the traits a leader.

If only I had what you have...

I've got several friends that are around my age and happen to be in very good shape.  Since I'd like to live a life of vibrant health, I try to be like them and exercise regularly - always pushing myself a little harder.

Sometimes, when I'm sweating, getting tired and hurting, I think about those guys and sometimes say to myself, "Yeah, well if I'd been doing this for years, I'd be in the same shape you're in."  It's kind of an excuse to make myself feel better.   

But that's where the danger lies.

I have people give me basically the same excuse about building their business, or not starting it at all!

"If I made the money you make... "
"If I had your skills and knowledge... "

Much like working out, when I put in the work, I'll be in shape like my friends are in shape. Right now, I need to keep working and developing.  I'm improving and getting more consistent, but I'm not 'physically fit' yet in the way I plan to be.

Business works the same way.

AFTER you pay the price to learn...
AFTER you put in the work to improve your skills...
AFTER you consistently apply the skills...
AFTER you learn HOW to make money...

Then money comes... every time.

Is it hard to make money with Organo Gold?

No!  Most people who are afraid to get started with it have one or two problems that they are struggling with, mentally.  The first one is that they don't 'have any money' to start their business with.  The second fear is that this will be 'too complicated'.

Afraid that you won't be able to understand this business?  Just pass out samples!  There's no "convincing" or "persuading" required. Just get the coffee (and tea) to the people and follow up!  Some will re-order regularly and become retail customers.  Others will be interested in the business side of it as well.

Think you can handle it?  Of course, you can.  So this concludes our 'incredibly complicated, in-depth, super-sophisticated' training system!  (smile)

Sample - Follow up.  Prospect - Invite - Follow up.  That's our whole world, folks.  That's where the money is found.  Don't complicate it.  Don't over-think it.  If you aren't getting the results you want, ask yourself: Am I sampling enough numbers?  Am I prospecting enough numbers?  This business is ALL about the numbers.  You have to work BIG numbers in order to leverage your time and have the law of averages work for you.  Want money ASAP?  Use the retail script for quick sales.  Want to build your business?  Do CJM's and show the plan.  When your passion and purpose is greater than your fears and excuses, you will find a way. 

Lastly, remember what we're doing is Referral Marketing.  My local car wash just offered me a free month if I refer a new customer to them.  Coffee is easier and pays much better.

If Success Could Be Bottled...

If success could be bottled, everyone would drink a six-pack a day.  No, success isn't a magic potion.  It's simply the result of concentrating on a goal and consistently, persistently doing what's necessary to reach it.  Sounds simple enough, right?

I mean, Network Marketing is simple enough.  If you believe in the company and it's products, then it's just a matter of believing in yourself and showing the plan to lots of people.  I said 'simple' though... not necessarily easy.  It's not easy to handle rejection and it gets worse when it seems as if nobody on earth wants to join your business.  It can be a real struggle.

Have you been there before - felt like you've done all that you can and nothing seems to work?  You're not alone.  I have too!  Struggles in life help me to focus on the things that are important to me.  If they aren’t that important, then don’t worry about them.  That's why I try to simplify things instead of worrying about this or that.  There's nothing magic about it.  Worrying will only take up valuable time and energy that can be used on the really important things in your life. Mine are: 1) God  2) Wife & Family  3) Work.

Friends, hobbies, entertainment and everything else comes after those three priorities.

By the way, those priorities need goals attached to them.  When you write your goals down you will get a clearer picture of what you want out of life, and the work will seem easier because of your plan.  Remember the quote, “Don’t sweat the small stuff!  It’s all small stuff!” I wouldn't let the “small stuff” control my day (instead of me controlling it) if I were you.  In other words, don't let little things get to you.  And whatever you do, don't give up and quit.

Someone recently asked, "What do I do when people won't even look at the business?"

My answer: "Move on to the next person on your list. They're clearly not the one."

Remember: "No" is part of the system.

Sift and sort by working the numbers.

Do you believe in fairy tales?

Have you ever heard the story of 'The 3 Little Pigs'?  Most people have.  It's the very popular tale of the wolf who warned the little piggies that he would 'huff and puff... and blow their house down'.  Well, you know the rest.  I happen to think that the story can be slightly altered to be 'The 3 Little Pigs of Network Marketing.'  You remember the story, right?  It isn't really that hard to 'tweek' it to reflect business realities.

For example, let's just say that the first pig wanted his house (i.e. Network Marketing business) up quick!  He wasn’t willing to invest any time and make a long-term commitment.  He wanted it now, fast and for the least amount of money.  So he built his house out of straw.  We’ll call this the popular '10 dollar a month' program that pops up regularly on the Internet and promises the world in 30 days or less.  Along came the wolf (i.e. Reality) and knocked on the door… “Little pig, little pig, let me in…”  We all know what happened next.  The wolf huffed and puffed and blew the house (i.e. Silly Beliefs) down!

And the wolf (i.e. Failure) ate him.

The second pig was similar to his buddy.  He didn’t want to invest any time in his business either, but he was willing to pay some guru to build his house for him.  The guru helped him build it out of sticks... which are arguably 'stronger' than straw but hey, let’s be honest here. We’ll call this program the ‘latest and greatest, automated, money-making opportunity’.  It costs some money, which convinces you that it's 'real'... but again… there's no solid foundation, because the promise is instant riches and the whole ‘set it and forget it, 'auto-pilot’ mentality.  It's a tempting lure, but will it stand up to the winds of reality? 

Our furry friend is going to come knocking again.  That's right:  “Little pig, little pig, let me in…”  And again, the house will come tumbling down by the huffing & puffing of our neighborhood predator, the wolf  (otherwise known as the reality of business and life).

Oh, btw...the piggy got eaten.

Ahhh... but then there’s the third piggy.  This one took his time. He built his house out of bricks and did so one, by one, by one, by one.  It wasn’t flashy.  It wasn't sexy.  Heck, this poor guy spent years building his house... and without any fanfare.  Let’s call this program 'a product-driven company'.  Every day, he put one brick on top of another.  When he was finally done, his glorious house was as solid as they come.  And when our friend, the Wolf, showed up again... he couldn't blow this house down.

The wolf was no longer 'reality'.  The fact is that he never was.  The 'wolf' was simply the natural result of the first two piggies' misguided belief in easy-money schemes.

The people that use the RIGHT material (real products and a proven plan) and take their time… always win! I have never never been a believer in 'quick, fast and now' because it's a fantasy that appeals to peoples' notions of what reality 'should' be.  It's how politicians get elected. And when you see how a children’s tale from years ago can break business down in the simplest of terms… well, I think we can all learn something from it.

Just take your time, OK?  Because it takes time.  To build the smart little piggy's 'brick house' is going to take consistent, persistent effort over time.  If instant success, security and happiness could be bottled, it would be selling off the shelves like crazy.  And anyone who promises it to you either wants your money or they want your vote.

Fact:  Statistically, anyone who spends 4 years with a single Network Marketing company has an 80% chance of being a success with it (i.e. quitting your job and doing this for a living).

Fact:  Statistically, anyone who spends 10 years with a single Network Marketing company is virtually assured to be one of the top-earners (i.e. 6 figures a month, at a minimum).

Dreaming of success?

I think Mr. Disney had the right viewpoint. I would bet he had a dream for Disneyland. That dream would not have come to pass without him having the courage and will to pursue it!

Do you have dreams? Have you been told that you will never become much? Do you listen to what others say about you and agree with them, or do you take a different road: A road that takes you where you want to go! A road filled with adventure and fear! A road that brings low lows and high highs. A road that allows you to be who you were made to be and, in the process, show others they too can chose their own road!

I was reading an article this morning about how some high schools are going back to more vocational choices for the students, allowing them to prepare for a career and not spend money needlessly on college. Choices are important for everyone and everyone does not need to follow the same path of college. Take some time and ask yourself what do you enjoy doing! What makes you happy? Follow that path and let your life be a testimony to taking your own path!

It takes boldness to win the day. To build your influence, you've got to walk in front of your group. You've got to be willing to take the first arrow, tackle the first problem, discover the first sign of trouble. Like the farmer, if you want any rewards at harvest time, you have got to be bold and face the weeds and the rain and the bugs straight on. You've got to seize the moment.

Here's the next step. You've got to learn to be humble but not timid. You can't get to the high life by being timid. Some people mistake timidity for humility. But humility is a virtue; timidity is a disease. It's an affliction. It can be cured, but it is a problem. Humility is almost a God-like word. A sense of awe. A sense of wonder. An awareness of the human soul and spirit. An understanding that there is something unique about the human drama versus the rest of life. Humility is a grasp of the distance between us and the stars, yet having the feeling that we're part of the stars. Here's a good tip: Learn to be proud but not arrogant. It takes pride to build your ambitions. It takes pride in your community. It takes pride in a cause, in accomplishment. But the key to becoming a good leader is to be proud without being arrogant. Do you know the worst kind of arrogance? Arrogance from ignorance. It's intolerable. If someone is smart and arrogant, we can tolerate that. But if someone is ignorant and arrogant, that's just too much to take.

The next step is learning to develop humor without folly. In leadership, we learn that it's okay to be witty but not silly; fun but not foolish. Next, deal in realities. Deal in truth. Save yourself the agony of delusion. Just accept life as it is. Life is unique. The whole drama of life is unique. It's fascinating. Life is unique. Leadership is unique. The skills that work well for one leader may not work at all for another. However, the fundamental skills of leadership can be adopted to work well for just about everyone: at work, in the community, and at home.

Organo Gold and the power of your beliefs

Your beliefs are the driving force behind your behaviors. Beliefs send powerful messages to your brain that affect your actions (and their outcome) in either a positive or negative way. Your beliefs will cause you to do one of two things:

Be fearful and RETREAT, or be empowered and ACT!

That’s how powerful your beliefs are. Your beliefs about failure, risk-taking, and success will either cause you to repel success, or act and attract it to you. Success takes two ingredients: belief and time. The more belief you have, the less time it takes. How can you ensure your belief system is empowering and is actually attracting success to you? Three things:

1)  First, it is imperative that you are making daily efforts to get the negative messages out of your life. You need to create an obsession with filtering what you allow in. Television, newspapers, some movies and songs, negative thoughts and people, all need to be limited – even banned from your day.

2)  Second, you need to expose and replace the negative beliefs you presently have. Think about what you say on a daily basis. Observe your habitual behaviors in different situations. Tell the truth. Expose these negative beliefs. Only then will you be truly free. Then, replace these negative beliefs and bad habits with empowering ones. Think on these new thoughts and beliefs about success and over time you will retrain your mind and change your heart.

3)  Lastly, create a compelling vision of your success. Craft a picture of you – as the person you want to be – in your mind and THINK ON THIS throughout your day. Not only with this vision put a smile on your face, this habit will actually create success. Remember middle school science class? You learned the difference between potential energy and kinetic energy. Potential energy is energy waiting to happen. Not until it’s moving and active will you see it in its kinetic energy state. When it’s in the kinetic state it is a reality. Wow! That means you can create reality (the kinetic energy) with your thoughts and beliefs (potential energy). Never underestimate the power of your beliefs!

Just remember this, success or failure is no more than a state of mind.  Once you decide to do this business and decide to make it pay... it will.  I promise you.  What's YOUR vision?

Joining the Organo Gold family requires a commitment of time, energy and a little money.  In order to get that commitment, people want to know three things - 'will this work?', 'can I do it?' and 'will I get help'?  They will will feel good about the answers to those questions when they:

Know = exposures.  With Organo Gold, this is primarily done with sampling and the famous 'four questions'.  Sample, sample, sample - that's the basic foundation of the marketing system.  People will never know you (or know about the coffee) if they never meet you.  Since you are reading this blog, online exposure is another way for people to get to know you because they can read what you have to say, and this says a lot about you.  Don't hide from the world!

Like = how you present yourself, the company's image, local events, webinars, social networks, blogs, etc. When I interact with you (or attend a meeting with you), in person or online, I get a sense of who you are and whether or not I like who you are. When I read your blog, I begin to learn who you are and what you believe. Are you out there, creating conversations and relationships? If not, when are you going to start?  And though it should be taken for granted, always dress professionally - and keep your website looking sharp as well.  You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.

Trust = consistency and edification. It’s easy to fake being nice, smart or helpful at first.  But with Organo Gold, upline support with 3-way calling is an absolutely essential tool for establishing REAL trust.  By 'edification', I mean building up your sponsor as an expert before the 3-way call.  By the way, that upline sponsor should actually be an expert!  If not, then 3-way call with his/her upline sponsor.  That builds trust to move prospects along the spectrum of know, like, trust and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you grow your Organo Gold coffee business.  By the way, we explain and demonstrate (over and over) how to do 3-way calls correctly until you are a master at it.

The rules for success with Organo Gold coffee

Lives are being changed by being involved with this amazing coffee brand!  But one thing that happens in our group is that people will join the OG family, receive their first coffee shipment, do a few of the things they've been taught for a week or two and then ask, "Hey, why isn't my business taking off like you said it would?"  The answer to that is simple.  They aren't doing all of the things they were taught to do and/or they aren't doing them consistently and persistently.

This business is simple because it's just coffee.  It's easy to earn a fortune with it because the steps for doing so are already proven.  But it's hard if you're not motivated!  Remember, it's a BUSINESS.  It's not a toy, a play-thing or a hobby.  You have to prepare yourself to be successful from the beginning.  It's like that with any business, actually.  This one is no different in that regard.  If you're going to do this, then do it.  It's really not that hard.  Go out and sample coffee.  Use the easy retail script to sell boxes to those on your contact list who are willing to support you in your initial launch.  Sell two boxes of coffee wholesale to everyone who joins your business so that they can get started fast.  Book the Coffee Jazz Mixers and do the invites.  Attend the area events or listen to the weekly calls (inviting guests in both cases) in order to immerse yourself in a success mindset and continue to grow & develop.

It is also imperative that you are on the proper autoship so that you have enough coffee for both personal/family consumption, sampling and supplying new team members with their initial stock.  In short, if your new coffee business hasn't started rolling in the first 30-90 days, I can promise you that it's because you haven't plugged into our team's proven system (in every way) and completed the basic steps in order for it to do so.

Here's the good news:  Today can be the first day of a fresh, clean start.  Listen to your upline, plug-in to the proven system, do the steps as outlined at OG University and get involved with local events and team calls.  Meet people, sample coffee, set-up 3-way calls with your upline - over and over again - and you can have everything that most people only dream of.  As of this month (October, 2012), Organo Gold is only four years old and it's already created 26 millionaires.  That doesn't even count the many thousands who are earning 4-5 figures a month by sharing this special coffee.  They did it, and you can do it too.

'Two out of three ain't bad'...right?

Well, maybe.  Especially if you like Meat Loaf.  But if you're talking about generating income for your business, you need 'Three out of Three'.  Why is that?  It's because making your Organo Gold business work comes down to three fundamental steps.  With coaching and practice, I promise that you will master all three of them.
