How you will fail with Organo Gold

I’ve been in this industry since the 1980's and something that has always frustrated me was how marketers pitch you the latest and greatest opportunity.  It’s always fun when they lead with things like…. “You can make so much money with this!” or “I’m joining under a top leader and if you join, you’ll be rich!”


Of course, being the annoying little business person I am, I usually come back to them with things like “Well, what has the product done for you?”  Which of course gets me a few blank stares and then an awkward moment of silence. Followed by….

“Who cares what it does or what's in it, it can make you rich!”

Ah, ‘affiliate and network’ marketers… always ruining such a good thing.  Well, that's my opinion, anyway.  If it works for you, then great.

Here’s the kicker and a huge nugget if you are thinking about getting involved in any business opportunity (online or off):  If you do not USE the product and benefit from it directly, don’t join it. If the sole reason you are promoting the product is to make money, don’t promote it.

It’s funny, but I've been involved with Organo Gold for more than 3 years. I’ve never once mentioned the ‘business opportunity’ to people I meet because frankly, it’s not why I drink their coffees and tea. Crazy concept huh - actually USING something you buy?  People see me drinking it and sometimes ask about it.  Then I just give them some samples and tell them it's a business that I'm part of.  If they show any interest, I just invite them to watch the DVD presentation that explains everything.  Also, this blog links to an instructional page that contains everything needed on the business side of things.

Just remember, if the next opportunity you are thinking of joining pressures you with comments like ‘you can make a lot’ and ‘join now or else you will lose out... then run, don’t walk away! This industry has seen leeches of all sorts come in and take people’s hard earned money with the promises of instant riches and million dollar dreams. Truth is, the quickest way to make money online is to take your time and be consistent.

It's nothing sexy (I know), and it's not the answer people wanna' hear... but it’s the truth.

Love the product, be the product and believe in the product or service.  Don’t just join something cause you can ‘make a buck’.  It'll never work because no one will believe you.

Jim Rohn's 'Ant Philosophy'

The late Jim Rohn is one of my heroes.  He was excellent at everything he did, and what he did was tell stories.  They're short and worth reading.  I've always like this one: 

"Over the years I've been teaching kids about a simple but powerful concept - the ant philosophy.  I think everybody should study ants. They have an amazing four-part philosophy, and here is the first part: ants never quit. 

That's a good philosophy. If they're headed somewhere and you try to stop them, they'll look for another way. They'll climb over, they'll climb under, they'll climb around. They keep looking for another way. What a neat philosophy, to never quit looking for a way to get where you're supposed to go.

Second, ants think winter all summer. That's an important perspective. You can't be so naive as to think summer will last forever. So ants gather their winter food in the middle of summer.

The third part of the ant philosophy is that ants think summer all winter. That is so important. During the winter, ants remind themselves, “This won't last long; we'll soon be out of here.” And the first warm day, the ants are out. If it turns cold again, they'll dive back down, but then they come out the first warm day. They can't wait to get out.

And here's the last part of the ant philosophy. How much will an ant gather during the summer to prepare for the winter? All he possibly can. What an incredible philosophy, the “all–you–possibly–can” philosophy.

Your dreams aren't lost until YOU quit

Giving up and quitting is the easiest thing in the world to do.  Exercise and proper nutrition it too hard?  Then quit.  It's too much effort to maintain your marriage?  Then quit.  Your business isn't an overnight success?  Then quit.  Pursuing that dream is just too much effort?  Then quit.  Quitting is easy, that's why most people do it... but that won't get you in the Hall of Fame.

Situations can be difficult.   Sometimes, it just 'makes sense' to give up.

Napoleon Hill understood this when he wrote down his 'philosophy of success' in the famous book, Think and Grow Rich.  This is what he said in one small story in the book, called 'Three Feet from Gold'- the story of R.U. Darby:

Before success comes in any man's life, he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and, perhaps, some failure.  When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit.  That is exactly what the majority of men do.

More than five hundred of the most successful men this country has ever known, told the author their greatest success came just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them.  Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning.  It takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach.

What makes YOU special?

Would you attend a paid seminar hosted by a failure?

Actually, you probably already have... more times than you think.  Anyone who tells you 'that will never work', 'you can't do that', 'it'll never happen', 'I tried that and it doesn't work' are giving you a seminar about their own failure - and they can be very persuasive.  They are, after all, experts on their own shortcomings.  If you believe them, then you paid to attend their seminar!  You paid to listen to them because they convinced you to part with your dreams.  You cashed them in and traded them in exchange for this 'expert advice'.

You made a transaction: exchanging your dreams for their advice.

What are you left with after receiving that valuable information?  NOTHING.  You have nothing - though your seminar host firmly believes that he/she has provided you with a valuable service by convincing you to give up on your dreams in the same way that they gave up on theirs.

I'm not saying that you can't learn from others.  That's the way we all learn, from the day we're born.  Of course, we also learn from our own experiences.  That's why you often need to step outside of your comfort zone a little bit and try something you've never done before.  This usually requires elements such as a definite decision, faith, determination and persistence.

I'm also not saying that you shouldn't be a good listener.  Don't let just anybody dump their negative attitudes and beliefs into your precious mind... because they will.  Misery loves company.  Remember that.

Lastly, don't quit!  That's what most failures do, although the one conducting the failure seminar for you to hear will give you a litany of heroic excuses about why they couldn't do it.  And 'if they can't do it, then neither can you'.  But the simple fact is, they gave up and quit on their dreams.  

They QUIT, and that's what you must never do.  Attend their seminars at your peril.

Before beginning with Organo Gold...

My second suggestion is to develop a thick hide and let go of any 'victim mentality' that you may have, or might have had in the past. To succeed in this business, realize that you will be getting paid to hear the word 'no'.  That's because the more times that you hear the word 'no', the more times that you will hear the word 'YES'!  It's 'no' that hurts your feelings, but it's 'yes' that makes you rich... and you will hear 'yes' eventually.

I'm going to put this as gently as I can: You just might have to toughen up a little bit.


(Disclaimer: I speak from my own experiences. I’m not sitting high on the top of some mountain, pointing down at people who are interested in starting a business like this one. I am writing this because I have had the victim mentality most of my life - just like everyone else does!  So please understand, when I write these things, it’s directly from personal experience.)

The victim mentality that I'm talking about is that thing that we all say to ourselves (it's an excuse factory).  It takes different forms, but it's usually some variation of, "The world owes me."  Or how about, "Why don't they agree with me?", or, "I'm right. They're wrong!"  Then there's my personal favorite, "This business just doesn't work!"

Folks, I'm here to tell you that this business works just fine and success is yours for the taking.  Plug into the proven system, follow it exactly, do the work and toughen up a little (if that's what it takes).

Nobody wants to be called a loser, but how would you describe yourself?

If you would describe yourself as a 'winner', then that's a good thing.  It shows self-confidence and a can-do attitude, not to mention living a blessed and contented life.  It's my own personal belief, but I tend to lump people into three categories:  Winners, Losers and Wayward Winners.

The winners are those who know what they want, understand their potential and makes things happen (rather than waiting for them to happen).  They squeeze the maximum 'juice' out of life because of their faith, determination and persistence.  They don't need anyone else to motivate them or tell them what to think and feel.  Losers, on the other hand, aren't 'bad people'.  They simply allow circumstances to shape their lives and their self-image... and then blame those circumstances on something or someone else.

I happen to believe that there is a third group as well. This group consists of potential winners whose lives are just slightly out of alignment. I call them wayward winners.  Perhaps they've hit a bump or two in life's journey, and that's knocked them off course and got them temporarily befuddled. A failed relationship, a lost job, financial problems, un-formed goals, a lack of parental support, illness - many things can send us off course temporarily.  That's called life.  Wayward winners are not lost souls; they just need some tweaking, coaching, nudging and a clear course of action to get them back on course. A map might be nice. Many of these wayward winners are easily identifiable because they are always searching.

Right now, there are many wayward winners out there braving rain, sleet and snow because they still believe that they have untapped talents. They attend motivational seminars, listen to inspirational cd's and they plunge onward, believing that sooner or later they will find their way again.  Other wayward winners have temporarily given up.  That's bad.  They are damaged and disoriented - their confidence badly eroded. They tend to drift through life numbly... with precious years passing them by. 

It is difficult for others to understand the rawness of your tragic loss, your terrible defeat, your broken heart or the aching emptiness of your temporarily unguided spirit.  We've all been there, in one way or another.  But everyone has the capacity to change - to lead meaningful and productive lives by awakening our consciousness to new possibilities.  Usually, it's just a subtle shift in attitude.  But you still need to brace yourself for tough times when you have the goal of changing your life.  When you get into your seat on an airplane, what is the first thing they tell you to do? Fasten your seat belt. Brace yourself for the turbulence because it's going to happen.  When you decide to move your life to the next level of accomplishment (and become a winner!), you must fasten your mental and spiritual seat belts because it is going to be a while before you reach that comfortable level again.  It won't happen overnight, and that's why you need FAITH. You will reach your destination, but you must endure the turbulence of change in order to grow out of your current situation.

Try this technique to help you through the difficult times of change and growth. Find four reasons why you cannot succumb to your fears and your troubles and write them down. Find those deep sources of motivation that can lift you out of the turbulence and above the clouds. You must change your life because, for example:

*You have not yet tapped the talents given you.
*You want to leave something more for your children.
*You want to live life rather than letting life live you.
*You want to do what makes YOU happy.

You simply have to ask yourself, "How badly do I want these things?"  In the end, the strength of your determination and faith is what separates the winners from the losers.  Do you agree or disagree?

Success Tip: Don't worry about what someone else thinks

It doesn't matter what someone else says about your dreams. It doesn't matter what someone else believes about you. The only thing that matters is what YOU believe about you. Live your belief, because I can promise you one thing: no one else is going to live it for you.

It's really not any of your business what somebody else thinks about you, so why worry about it? When other people's opinions run your life, then those people have the power over you. 'No' means you're doing it right with Organo Gold

When you first launch your Organo Gold coffee business, how well you handle “No” will be a critical factor in determining your success. The fact of the matter is that people are going to tell you “No” all the time.  It's going to happen a lot and don't worry about it. If you have any kind of sales background, you’re probably already used to it. You know that not everybody is going to buy from you so you just get past the “no” and move on to find the next “yes”. 

That's how it works.

But if you are new to network marketing, sales, and prospecting, rejection can be quite a shock. You're getting ready to join the Organo Gold movement and you just KNOW that everybody is going to want to get involved, right?  But then you'll start hearing it. The dreaded rejection. It will come from friends. It will come from family, it will come from co-workers and it will come from people that you've done business with before.

So get ready for some straight-talk.  Here it is: You need to make up your mind, RIGHT NOW, that you are going to learn how to handle rejection if you ever want to experience success that goes beyond having a “good job” (whatever that is).  The first step is to realize that hearing the word “no” won’t kill you. It may sting a little when you first start your coffee business, but it definitely won’t kill you. Recognize that “no” is just their initial defensive reaction or it may just be a way of them saying “not now”. The key is: Don’t take it personally! In this business, we get paid to follow the process. “Yes” is a part of the process. “No” is a part of the process. Learning to not become emotionally attached to either response is very important to your success.  That's very, very important to remember - don't be emotionally involved with whether or not somebody in particular isn't interested in this coffee business. 

Seriously, don't be afraid.

The second step is to learn to ask the right questions when you talk to someone about our coffee.  You'll get fewer "no's" that way.  All that you really want to do is simply find out if people are OPEN to making some extra income or in trying your product or service.  If they are not open to the idea of picking up some extra income or in trying the coffee (or tea), MOVE ON!  End or change the conversation! That’s it. Every second you spend trying to convince someone to try your product, listen to your presentation, is time you are wasting. You can’t help people that don’t want help. So spend your time looking for people that DO want help! Believe me … they are out there by the millions!

And understand this:  Today’s “no” can often become tomorrow’s “Put me in. I need something to change!”.  I’ve often had people come back to me months later, asking “Are you still in that thing? How’s that working?”.

What are some of the ways you can find out if someone is open?

4. Online Advertising can also help.  It's not the best way, but it can certainly help. People can view your ads or blog 24/7, no matter where you are. If they are not open to what you are offering, they just go on to look at another ad or another web site. They don’t call you or email you to say “No”. Most of the people you hear from are going to be at least interested in learning more. This reduces the amount of time you spend handling rejections, personally, and helps you focus on following up with people that are at least a little bit interested in learning more about the Organo Gold coffee business.

Beyond the technicality of simply asking people and advertising, I highly recommend that you spend some time focusing on and even writing down your vision for what you want to achieve in your Organo Gold business. Keeping a clear picture of the lifestyle you desire, the home you want, and the car you’ll drive can all be very beneficial in helping you keep your focus when the rejections seem to be coming fast and furious. 

That's because what you think about, you bring about.

Additionally, spend time on personal development. The actual “nuts and bolts” of this business are really very simple. The hardest work you will do will be on yourself. Read books on self development, the industry of network marketing, success stories. These can all be very helpful in shaping your mindset and helping you build confidence as you become a network marketing professional with Organo Gold.

Learning to practice emotional detachment has really helped me. I’m not emotionally invested in their response, nor do I care what they think about me.  I don't mean that in a negative way.  I'm just saying that what other people think about me or what I'm doing is none of my business.  I just want to ask folks to find out if they are ready to have the next conversation about coffee, that's all.  If they are not, I’m sure we’ll talk again in the future.  Take that attitude and you'll be just fine.

Organo Gold coffee: Crossing the Rubicon

Today, when someone is said to have “crossed the Rubicon,” it means that they have crossed the point of no return, or have burned their bridges behind them. The die has been cast and there’s no turning back. When Caesar crossed the Rubicon, there was absolutely nothing he could due to turn back the clock; the war had begun.

When the Spanish Conquistador, Hernan Cortes, invaded what is today modern Mexico, he ordered his men to burn their ships upon reaching the shore.  Cortes reasoned that by eliminating their only method of retreat, his men had no choice but to fight hard to win against the Aztecs, which they ultimately did.

And in the Unites States Army, there's a saying:  "You're capable of anything when you have no choice."

Success Key: Decide ahead of time that quitting is NOT an option! If you leave yourself an option, you will take it at some point. Success comes to those who leave no other option and then work tirelessly to make it happen. That doesn't mean that they don't get tired, frustrated, or discouraged at times. It just means that these things cannot stop them, because they don't have a choice.

Champions push through the fear, the pain, the disappointment, and they keep following the plan.  With your new Organo Gold business, figuratively burning bridges or ships will be a good thing.  All you're doing is letting go and saying goodbye to the old excuses.  Once you do that, you won't have any choice but to go foward and conquer!
